Scrapfest 5 Demo Project - Favorite Photos

I should have posted these weeks ago but I only found time now. Here are my 6"x12" layouts used as demo project during the Scrapfest 5.

I'm not really a stamp person. I own a few stamps but didn't really get to use them much. When I was assigned to do the demo project together with my c-Scrappin' Mom, Liza, I knew this would be a real challenge for me. We were given Absolument stamps to work with which by the way is one of the very generous sponsors we have last Scrapfest.

It was Ria's idea to work with 6"x12"s, a new emerging trend which I've always wanted to try. After working with this format - I think I liked this better than 8"x8"s or 6"x6". The pages are easy to fill up, it resembles 12"x12"s and very economical on papers and embellishments too.

The theme for this project is "Favorite Photos".

My first takes on the said project wasn't that easy. The OC in me wants everything to be nice and perfect. Since I'm not really into stamps - it was more of a trial and error ; ) I don't know how many times I tried kiss stamping before I said it was enough hehehe. Well, I learned a lot from this experience. And I want to thank my co-Scrappin' Moms for the patience and understanding they have been extending to me while I was making this project : )

The Little Things
techniques used: making your own patterned papers and embellishments through stamping; doodling
materials used: Absolument stamps (flowers, script), Daisy Bucket stamp (quote), Ki Memories, Bazzill cs, buttons, sequins, Coleen watercolor pencils, Uniball Signo, Sakura Aqualip and Zig pens, Colorbox and Staz-on ink

To change the color of the sequins, I applied green ink on it. It took awhile to dry though so you if would like to try it, you may want to use a heat gun. I stamped gumamela flowers on white paper, used watercolor pencil to color the flowers and adhere it using 3D adhesive for added dimension. To create the patterned papers, I stamped script on white paper, trim and adhere as shown. You may want to stamp directly on the base paper too.

O Happy day
techniques used: Spotlight stamping, making your own embellishments through stamping, stamping on buttons, doodling
materials used: Absolument stamp (script and flowers), Daisy Bucket (title), Ki Memories pp, Bazzill cs, Coleen watercolor pencils, Zig pen, Colorbox and Staz-on ink, buttons

To highlight the flowers, I stamped it twice, first on the base paper then on another patterned paper. I backed it up with a black cs then adhere using 3D adhesive.

Happy Holidays
techniques used: masking; doodling
materials used: Absolument stamps (cross stitch, flourish, script), Daisy Bucket stamp (quote),Prima Say it with Crystals, Scenic Route Loveland, Ki Memories Joyful papers, Zig and Aqualip pens, Coleen watercolor pencils

I interchanged the masked patterns and the patterned papers as background of the photo.

US techniques used: sewing, stamping on felt, making your own felt embellishments, kiss stamping
materials used: Absolument stamps (family, flowers, script), felt shapes - Tinkering Ink, American Crafts, Prima flowers, brads -Queen & Co, We R Memory Keepers, chipboard - K & Co, metal embellishments - WRMK, ink, pen, tag, embroidery floss - DMC

I'm too proud of this layout! Guess who made the house embellishment using metal embellishments such as the bookplate? Ethan! I let him play with my stuff actually and saw him did this, only, he used a photo corner for the roof of the house. I used a felt triangle (I handcut it) instead on this layout and sew running stitches. I also handcut the grass which is pretty simple to do. I stamped on felt as well although I think I used the wrong ink, I think paint will be better to use.

When I was finished with these, we figured out we need to simplify things a bit hehehe. Liza's work became our pattern for the final project. So I did another set of layouts ; ). Here they are:

Wish

Sunshine

Us

I enjoyed making these layouts and sharing the techniques with the participants. I hope those who attended the Scrapfest will keep on posting their works on their blogs and online galleries. We would really love to see your own versions!
